Complaints & Appeals Policy

The Journal of International Students (JIS) provides a transparent process for handling complaints and appeals related to editorial decisions and publication practices.

Appeals

Authors may appeal editorial decisions (e.g., rejection) by submitting a formal written request to the editorial office. Appeals must:

  • Clearly outline the grounds for reconsideration
  • Provide supporting evidence or clarification

The appeal will be reviewed by the Executive Editor/Editor-in-Chief and, where appropriate, additional editorial board members or independent reviewers. Decisions following appeal are final.

Complaints

Complaints related to:

  • Editorial processes
  • Peer review conduct
  • Publication ethics

should be submitted in writing to the editorial office. The journal will:

  • Acknowledge receipt of the complaint
  • Conduct a fair and impartial investigation
  • Respond within a reasonable timeframe

If necessary, the journal will follow COPE procedures and may involve relevant institutions or third parties.

The journal is committed to resolving all concerns with professionalism, transparency, and respect for all parties involved.
