AI Policies for Authors, Reviewers, and Editors

For Authors

Authors may use generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Co-Pilot) solely to improve the clarity, grammar, and readability of their manuscripts. AI tools may be used to generate core scientific content or manipulate figures and data unless explicitly part of the research methodology, in which case full disclosure is required.

  • Disclosure Required: Any use of AI tools during manuscript preparation must be declared in a disclosure statement.

  • Human Oversight: Authors are fully responsible for reviewing and editing all AI-generated content.

  • No AI Authorship: AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.

  • Image Policy: Generative AI must not be used to create, edit, or enhance images unless part of the documented research process.

    Citation and Reference Verification (Mandatory)

Authors must verify every citation and reference manually to ensure:

    • Accuracy of author names, titles, publication years, volumes, issues, and page numbers

    • Inclusion of valid and active URLs, DOIs, or permanent repository links

    • Consistency between in-text citations and the reference list

    • Correct metadata formatting for indexing and archiving

Authors must check references one by one before submission.

    Required AI Use Disclosure

All authors must include an AI Use Statement in the Acknowledgment section stating:

    • Whether AI tools were used

    • The specific purpose (e.g., grammar, clarity, synthesis, or methodological assistance)

    • Confirmation that authors have reviewed and validated all AI-generated content

    Author Responsibility

    Authors remain fully responsible for:

    • The accuracy of all facts, interpretations, data points, and analyses

    • Correctness of all citations and metadata

    • Ethical use of AI in all parts of the manuscript

    • Ensuring that no AI-generated content compromises originality or research integrity

    Restrictions on AI Use

    • Generative AI cannot create core scientific content, fabricate data, manipulate results, or alter images—unless such use is an explicit part of the research design and disclosed transparently.

    • AI systems cannot be credited as authors or co-authors under any circumstance.

    Acceptable Additional Uses of AI

Authors may also use AI tools for:

    • Grammar and stylistic editing

    • Structuring literature reviews

    • Summarizing background materials

    • Improving readability for international audiences

All such uses must be disclosed.

For Reviewers

Manuscripts under review are confidential. Reviewers may use AI tools to develop notes, organize ideas, and draft emails.  Please ensure that all review content is original, human-written, and ethically grounded.

For Editors

Editors may use generative AI tools to screen, evaluate, or draft communications about submitted manuscripts.

  • Human experts must make editorial judgments and decisions.

  • Editors must report any suspected misuse of AI by authors or reviewers to the publisher.
